Belvedere House Gardens Park in Mullingar has lots of family friendly things to see and do with the kids. The estate has 160 acres of parkland with kilometres of magnificent woodland and late shore walks. They have seasonal events and tours of the house are available. It also has a restaurant, interpretative centre, exhibition galleries, a children’s playground, an animal sanctuary, tram trips and several picnic areas.

The Belvedere Falconry Centre has daily flying displays of eagles, falcons and hawks. This purpose-built centre also has barn owl and snowy owl aviaries. 

Krazy Kids, Blyry Industrial Estate in Athlone is Athlone’s biggest indoor children's play area with over 10,00sq feet of fun for the family to enjoy for a fun family or day out. Catering for children up to the age of twelve or thirteen. Children can have oodles of fun while parents sit back and relax and enjoy the break in the coffee shop/viewing area.

Glendeer Farm, Drum in Athlone is an award winning six acre open farm with Self Catering Accommodation which operates from Easter to the end of September. The farm allows free access to the open farm for families staying in the rented accommodation.

Tullynally Castle and Gardens in Castlepollard has terraced lawns overlooking superb 18th century parkland. The adjoining woodland gardens and walled gardens for a walk and it has two ornamental lakes. For children, there is also an Adventure Trail leading to the lower lake. For those who wish to take the gardens more slowly, there is an assortment of ornamental summer houses and seats, each offering a different view.

Viking Tours offers a cruise to Lough Ree and its' islands with live commentary of tales of Viking treasure and of many battles fought. 

Kilbeggan Races is the only Racecourse in Ireland where races are over jumps under national hunt rules - the type of racing the Irish love best. That makes for an entertaining and heart-stopping spectacle and the horse loving members of the family are close enough to see the skill, excellence and bravery of man and animal.  

Ireland visitor discounts is a fantastic free downloadable discount voucher for leading Irish cultural and heritage visitor attractions. You should download a form for each member of the family and bring this with you when you are travelling. Discounts include two for the price of one in leading tourist attractions, free admission at some attractions and between 10 and 20% off other attractions. This really could make a considerable saving for your family.
