Brú Ború is a national cultural centre at the foot of the Rock of Cashel. This cultural village is designed around a village green and is a home to the study and celebration of native Irish music, song, dance, theatre and Celtic studies which children and adults will enjoy. It has a folk theatre, genealogy centre, restaurant and other amenities. Visit ‘Sounds of History’, subterranean chambers 7 metres underground which echo to the story of Ireland from ancient times to the present day.
The Rock of Cashel with its well preserved ecclesiastical remains is one of Ireland’s most spectacular landmarks and the family can have great fun wandering the attraction. In Cashel you can also see many other attractions including St. John’s Cathedral, Bolton Library, Brú Ború, Cashel Folk Village, Dominics Abbey and Hore Abbey. The Cashel Heritage Centre has a model of Cashel in the 1640s. There is a multimedia presentation in several languages.
Mitchelstown Caves in Burncourt, Cahir is considered one of the most spectacular caves in Europe. Visit the site of world famous stalignites and staligtites for fun for all the family. The guided tour takes the family through almost half a mile of this world famous Show Cave, the House of Commons and the House of Lords. In this cavern, you are surrounded by indescribable drip stone formations, stalactites, stalagmites, huge calcite columns and one of Europe's finest columns, inspiring Tower of Babel formation which stands some 30 feet high.
The Museum of Transport, Gortnafleur Business Park, Waterford Road, Clonmel has exhibits dating from the earliest motorised vehicles. On display are cars such as Jaguar, Renault, Morris, Mercedes, an MG and a 1904 Clement Talbot. Featured are cars and other motoring automobilia, signs, light garage equipment, books and posters. The museum currently occupies two floors of the skilfully restored mill.
Tipperary Excel Centre, Mitchell Street, Tipperary comprises the Simon Ryan theatre, cinemas an art gallery, tourist office, a gift shop, interpretative centre, internet cafe and family research unit. It offers a myriad of activities all under one roof.
Bishops Wood Dundrum has a wide variety of Flora and Fauna and a forest which is also home to a variety of bird and animal life including fox, fallow deer. Red squirrel, whiskered bats, pipistrelle bats and long eared bats.
Cahir Castle is one of the largest and best preserved castles in Ireland. It comprises of three sections, surrounded by a thick fortifying wall, with the main structural towers and hails around the innermost section. The castle’s attractions include an excellent audio-visual show called “Partly Hidden and Partly Revealed” (English/French/German/Italian). There are also several family friendly exhibitions.
