Meet and Greet at the airport

(24 Sep 2008)

We all know the hassle of getting on and off the plane and all that goes with that but so far little is said about actually the significant hassles of getting into getting and and from your home and into and out of the terminal buildings. There is now a new service to help stressed parents called Swiftpark. We have tried it and we love it!

It is well worth looking into and can be found at www.Swiftpark.ie. Even better Swiftpark are offering a free car wash on all bookings made with them if you mention Sticky Fingers Travel. Just use the code SFTRAV09 when you are booking. So you get dropped off, get your car delivered back to you and it is clean. What more do you need to ask for?

The options for getting to the airport include

  • A taxi but there are issues with children about car seats and safety as well as cost.
  • Buses such as the air coach but there are issues about getting to and from the air coach and lugging all the family and the luggage on and off the bus as well as the time it takes as you have to allow extra time to fit in with their schedule and other pick ups and drop offs.
  • Driving yourself which will either involve exhorbidant rates in the short term car park or parking some distance away and lugging all the luggage, the kids and buggys on a bus which seems to circle in the most circutious way (I know they do their best but it does seem to take forever) and extra time and hassle at both ends.

Now there is a new option in Dublin Airport which will help both the business and the family traveler. Swiftpark Meet & Greet is a recently established business that offers a convenient alternative to parking at Dublin Airport. This is established by two parents themselves which is always a help as they have been there and seen first hand the extra hassles of travelling with children. Meet and greet parking services have been available at airports throughout the world for many years and it is great see now that Swiftpark will eliminate the inconvenience of bus transfers to and from the long term car parks.

The concept is very simple. You will be met by the Swiftpark chauffeur at the Departures area of the airport who will take your car for secure parking during your stay away. On your return back simply call the Swiftpark team and the car is returned to you. Better still make sure they have your flight details. The service seems to be efficient, convenient and cost competitive compared to the existing options but even better it starts or finishes your holiday on the right note without all the hassle that may be involved otherwise.
