If you love the idea of nice surroundings without all the fanfare of a large establishment, then a getaway to an Irish guest house or B & B could be a good choice for you and your family.
Ranging in style from large family homes in breathtaking rural locations, elegant Georgian manors to thoroughly modern town houses they have a less formal atmosphere than a hotel and you will get a lot more personal attention. There is often limited communal space though which is not ideal for families and you if that is important to you check this.
Book Guest Houses and B&B's in Ireland

The Irish Hotels Federation has a great new Healthy Eating for Kids campaign with over 250 hotels and guesthouses signed up so far which is good news for parents who want their children to eat healthy food while on holiday which can be an issue.

Generally speaking a B & B is a private house run by the owner with accommodation for a limited number of guests.
A guest house is run on a more commercial basis than a B&B and there are usually more services and in some cases dinner may be provided sometimes at communal tables.
