Cavan County Museum, Virginia Road in Ballyjamesduff features unique artefacts dating from the Stone Age up until the twentieth century, material spanning over 6000 wars of occupation in Cavan. Displays of notable interest include the Killycluggin stone and the three-faced Corleck Head, two of the most recognisable examples of Celtic spirituality in the country.
Enjoy a family walk or trek in the great outdoors in Cavan's two great Forest Parks at Killykeen and Dun an Rí. Killykeen surrounds the lake and islands of Lough Oughter. Scattered throughout the park are early fortifications such as Crannogs or lake dwellings.
Dun an Rí Forest Park is situated in a tranquil glen, one mile from Kingscourt. There are animals to spot including stoat, hare, mink, rabbit, red and gray squirrel and otter along the banks of the River Cabra. Both parks are havens for bird life also.
Ross House Equestrian Centre in Mountnugent is a 400 - acre farm situated on the shores of Lough, caters not only for the keen horseman, but it also hosts a series of leisure activities such as tennis, hiking through open fields, bog land and forests, boating and fishing. Available also are adventurous trips around the lake, exploring the property owned Church Island or the Golf Course across the Lake.
A visit to the Bear Essentials Showroom & the Silver Bear Centre in Bawnboy, County Cavan promises to be an experience for all ages. You can wander around the Showroom of hand-made teddy bears or book for hands-on workshops/tours/birthday parties in advance.
Arches Farmhouse Crazy Golf in Arches Farmhouse, Drumyouth Arvagh has an 18 hole crazy golf course and games room with a pool table and darts also available. It is open to all visitors, residents & non-residents.
